Join the Lawrence Hall of Science to explore hands-on STEM activities inspired by Mesoamerican culture and inventions. These engaging experiences were designed by youth for youth. Attend one session or all three! June 8: Painting with Nature Learn how people in Mesoamerica used nature to make bright colors for art and dyeing cloth, then explore natural pigments and create your own artwork inspired by this tradition. June 15: Mayan Calendar and Me Learn about the Mayan Haab calendar, compare it to our modern calendar and then create your own to take home. June 22: Sun and Stone: Mayan Pyramids and the Solstice Explore how the Maya studied the sun and stars to track time, learn how pyramids were built to mark solstices, then build your own model that uses light and shadow.
