The band’s name, MOMOTOMBO-SF, pays homage to the fiery track “Momotombo” from Malo’s 1972 album Malo Dos—and to the active volcano on the shores of Lago de Managua, Nicaragua. The “SF” stands for San Francisco, the birthplace of the explosive Latin Rock revolution. MOMOTOMBO-SF’s members are no strangers to greatness, having shared stages with icons like Santana, Jorge Santana Band, Sly & the Family Stone, Taj Mahal, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, Los Lobos, Pete Escovedo, Bo Diddley, and more.
