Castro Valley to Niles

Saturday June 13, 2026 32 miles; 2600 feet climbing; average speed around 10 mph (leisurely, with frequent regroupings) This is a ride up and over Palomares to the picturesque town of Niles, then return back over Palomares in the opposite direction. Palomares is one of the great local cycling roads: the one big climb is gentle rollers for about 5 miles then steep for the last mile. The return back from Niles is the opposite: steep climbing at first then more moderate for most of the climb. And both descents are exciting and memorable. Niles has lots of quaint shops and eateries, and we will stop there to eat. Start and end at Castro Valley BART. Meet at 10:30 in front of the BART main entrance.
